Fugetsu-Do

PRODUCED & DIRECTED BY KAIA ROSE

Directed and produced by Kaia Rose, FUGETSU-DO is a short documentary filmed on location in Little Tokyo and at the Heart Mountain Interpretive Center in Wyoming that features Brian Kito, the owner of the Fugetsu-Do sweet shop. Shot on a RED camera with cinematography by Eric Mann, the film was colored by Michele Zarbafian, composited by Dominic Pitt, with sound design and mixing by Jasmin Klinger. Big thanks to our fiscal sponsor Craft Film Society and the Japanese American National Museum, whose archive collection was invaluable.

Climate Countdown

SEASON 1 produced by kaia rose and eric mann

SEASON 2 PRODUCED BY KAIA ROSE, SARABETH BROCKLEY, & NICOLE CRESCIMANNO

As director and producer of this award-winning web-series, we released 14 episodes between July 2015 and the end of 2015.  Despite our small team, we filmed interviews in China, Italy, Germany, France, England, Morocco, India, Barbados and across various cities in the United States.  The series has been used as a teaching tool in universities across the country and we've had screenings from cities such as Marrakech and Punjab to university campuses like Yale, Columbia and Bristol.  Not only have we made a big impact online, with some episodes hitting as many as 26,000 views on Facebook, but we have received awards from the World Bank’s #Film4Climate competition, Barbados Independent Film Festival, Deauville Green Awards, Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival, Handle Climate Change Film Festival, and Berlin Flash Film Festival.

Making of The Fold

PRODUCED BY KAIA ROSE for electric shadow company

While living in Bristol and working full time as a producer for the animation company ArthurCox, I often produced behind-the-scenes films for various features that were shooting in the city.  As a one-woman-band, I would organize the shoot, film and conduct the interviews, and then edit the film while liaising with the producers of the feature to ensure their film was represented accurately.

PRODUCTION MANAGER / ASSISTANT EDITOR:  KAIA ROSE

Directed by BAFTA-winning director Adam Tyler, this short doc is a love letter to his local football club in the south west of London.  As production manager, I organized the shoot on location in London and acted as assistant editor throughout post-production.  The film was picked up for broadcast by Channel 4 in the UK.
